As a full-time illustrator and author I help publishers, companies and foundations from all over the world bring stories to life for children from 0-12 years. I also work as an illustrator for educational projects, greeting cards and merchandise. My illustrations can be described as energetic, versatile and accessible. My stories often include action, fantasy and a positive message. My area of expertise is narrative picture books. Currently I'm working on a new picture book that will be published by Clavis in summer 2016.

Biography/Education/Professional Associations
I have always been fascinated by stories. As a child I read everything I could get my hands on and started making up my own little stories in text and drawings. Throughout secondary school I made a comic strip or an illustrated novel every summer holiday. My short stories and poems were published in magazines and newspapers. I regularly won writing contests. I come from a creative family so am very lucky to always have been supported in my projects. My mother, for example, is a kindergarten teacher and a painter and a sculptor. It was self-evident that I should do something with my passions. In 2005 I graduated from the Art Academy St. Joost in Illustration. In 2008 I started my blog for which I regularly wrote articles about illustration, writing and my existence as a freelancer. In 2013 I graduated from Script+ in Amsterdam for 'Writing for children' where I was taught by writers including such as Mirjam Oldenhave. I'm a member of the Association of Writers and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

My goal
It is my goal to have my stories translated in 10 different countries. In this way I can reach more children with my stories across the world. I also donate to Ibby, Internation Board on Books for Young People. This organisation brings books and children together. Every year I think up an event, the profits of which go to the charity.
