Mijn diensten:Als illustrator specialiseer ik me in educatieve en verhalende illustraties in een energieke, toegankelijke en veelzijdige stijl. Al sinds 2005 werk ik voor diverse grote uitgevers als Malmberg, Noordhoff en Zwijsen. Ook ben ik auteur van fictie waardoor ik volledige projecten kan uitwerken voor diverse media.

Toegankelijk:

in mijn werk. Dat zorgt voor energieke
illustraties die de aandacht trekken.

U heeft de keuze uit drie verschillende
stijlen: cartoon, gestileerd en realistisch.
Naast illustraties bied ik ook (strip)verhalen aan.
Zo krijgt elk project het geschikte visuele jasje.
Wie is Sanne?
Als kind ging ik regelmatig bij mijn opa in het bejaardentehuis op bezoek. Dan schoof ik tekeningen onder alle huisdeuren van de gang door. De volgende dag kreeg mijn opa steevast van de andere bejaarden te horen: ‘Is je kleindochter weer langs geweest?’. Als mijn konijn een nestje had maakte ik geboortekaartjes die ik naar de hele familie stuurde. Voor mijn vrienden maakte ik een eigen uitgave van de Donald Duck voor in de vakantie, met stripverhalen en spelletjes. Als volwassene zijn mijn bezigheden niet veel veranderd, al krijg ik er nu voor betaald! Ik ben een dromerig meisje met een hoofd dat overstroomt van de ideeën, beelden en verhalen. In mijn illustraties en verhalen toon ik de wereld als een speeltuin, een plek waar veel te ontdekken en te leren valt in een veilige en knusse omgeving. Ik heb een sterke wil om mijn dromen uit te laten komen. Ik zit nooit stil. Als het niet in opdracht is werk ik wel aan eigen projecten. Ik vind het belangrijk om mezelf te blijven ontwikkelen en elke dag iets bij te leren.
Biografie
In 1982 werd ik geboren in Tilburg.
Van jongs af aan vond ik het heerlijk om te tekenen. Ik verzon verhaaltjes en tekende daarbij. Mijn moeder heeft me altijd aangemoedigd creatief bezig te zijn, zij is zelf beeldhouwster en schilder. Naast tekenen las ik ontzettend veel, romans en stripverhalen. Ook was ik gek op animatiefilms. Door die goed te bestuderen leerde ik mensen en dieren tekenen.

Van 17 tot 19 jaar begon ik ook mijn eigen stripverhalen te maken, met behulp van een eenvoudig tekenprogramma op de computer en een scanner. In totaal maakte ik 5 stripverhalen. In het begin nog in grijstinten, later in kleur.
Na het voltooien van mijn VWO wist ik dat ik iets met tekenen of schrijven wilde gaan doen. Het werd de opleiding Illustratie aan de Sint Joost Academie in Breda. Tijdens mijn studie volgde ik tevens diverse schrijfcursussen en later ook in Amsterdam.
Na mijn afstuderen ben ik gelijk begonnen met mijn freelance illustratiebedrijf. Naast illustratiewerk bied ik nu ook eigen verhalen aan, van prentenboek tot jeugdroman. Door mijn achtergrond als illustrator ben ik als geen ander in staat om de visuele mogelijkheden uit een verhaal te halen. Het verhaal zorgt voor inspiratie voor het illustratiewerk én andersom. Zo is er altijd een goede balans tussen tekst en beeld.
Momenteel woon en werk ik in Breda.

On top of that I work for different media. Lesson books, picture books, children books, sites, agenda’s, magazines, brochures, posters, merchandise (like T-shirts, mugs, buttons etc), coloring pictures, visuals, storyboards, illustrationgifts for relations, greeting cards, etc....
Illustration Style: I work in 3 substyles: cartoon, stylized and realistic.
In the cartoon style the proportions are exaggerated, there are anatomic inpossibilities (ears are gone, persons only have 4 fingers per hand) Stylized is a style between the cartoon and the realistic style, in which reality is simplified into an own look.

As a child I frequently visited my granddad in his retirement home. While I was there, I slid drawings underneath the apartment doors. The next day my granddad would always get asked: ‘Has your granddaughter been here again?’ When my rabbit had babies I made birthcards and send them to the whole family. For my friends I made my own edition of the Donald Duck, at vacation-time, including comics and games. As an adult my work hasn’t changed that much, except for being paid for it of course! I’m a dreamy girl with a head filled with ideas, pictures and stories. In my work I present the world as a playground, a place in which you can discover and learn in a safe and cosy environment. I’ve a strong commitment to make my dreams come true. I’m always busy. Aside from my assigned projects I work on my personal projects. I think it’s important to keep developing my skills and learn every day.

Aside from the drawing I also read an awful lot, novels and comics. In addition, I loved animated movies. By studying those I learnt to draw people and animals.
From 14 to 18 years I wrote 7 long stories about different subjects. Every summer vacation I wrote a long story. I also made accompanying illustrations in pencil. From 17 to 19 years I began making my own comics, I used a simple drawingprogram on the computer and a scanner. In total I made 5 comics. In the beginning only in grayscale, later in full-color.
After high school I knew I wanted to do something with drawing or creative writing. I chose Illustration at the Sint Joost Academy in Breda. During my study I also followed several writing courses in Breda, later also in Amsterdam.
When I received my degree in illustration I immediately started with my freelance illustrationcompany. Nowadays I offer illustration work as well as fiction stories, from picture book to young adult novel. As an illustrator I am, unlike anybody else, able to make the most of the visual representation of a story. The story inspires my artwork and vice versa. This way there’s always a nice balance between words and pictures.
Today I live and work in Breda.
